Sitting in my little office, now scattered with the boys school materials, a few puppy chew toys, and list upon lists of good intentions, I warm my hands with my coffee cup and smile at this sweet family.

It is the first day of a new year, and not just any year, the year after THE year. And while I have sat for months with my jaw on the floor at times, my heart out of chest at times, my daily structure seeping through my hands with every change made since March at times, I have only loved this art more.

I have less time, but more passion and insight than I have had in I don’t know how long. I think many artists can agree with me, that this new space, whatever your’s looks like, has pushed you both personally and creatively through a hard season, for some good reasons.

I hope to dive into that more this year. Education, mentoring, sharing, and digging into my community in ways I might have been more fearful of in years past. In this insolation, I have leaned into my little nook of a photography community, and watched it feed my work and heart time and time again… it’s a part of the 2020 tapestry that I will forever remember with such gratitude.

And now for this wonderful woman and her family…

Alex is friend from Central California that has blessed me with years of friendship, honest conversation, inspiration, and a constant sounding board for all the things tumbling about in my head. She and her family welcomed their newest baby, Tait Robinson, this summer and I was so fortunate to make the trek to her family home, to capture them together with their sweet boy.

They are so in love.

They are so grateful.

They are so happy together….all the things I feel celebrates the best parts of the year behind us; and all the things I want to take with me into 2021.
